Just 245 More Days!

Every month I create new magnets for the frig.
Bonnie & I love this. It helps her count down to things since she
really doesn't understand the concept of time, days, weeks, months, etc.

We are very excited to be going to Disney again this year!
So we made a countdown for it.

The side of the frig has the days of the week,
and new images or die cuts are put up each month.
Also added now are little hearts for the Disney countdown.

On the front of the frig are ALL the hearts until our trip.
Each month I'll move enough over to the side to add to the
daily image we decide to use for that month.

Tom thought it would be a good idea though
to have all the hearts showing so Bonnie can see how far
away it is until we go to Disney.

Fun!!

Thanks for swinging by today.
I promise I will do better next month with posting
daily craft projects - or as close to daily as I can get.

Big hugs!!
:) Janis

Crochet Blanket

I finished a crochet blanket
for my husband over the weekend.

He wanted one for his Alaska trips.
And he wanted this baby soft thick yarn for it.
I used regular yarn for the two borders.

It's so heavy. I may need to make me one.

I love it when he asks me to make him something!

Thanks for swinging by!

So Cold

I'm so cold. It's been in the 20's at night for a week or so, and I'm so ready for summer! I thought when we moved back from Alaska to the South we were done with being cold.
But this skating polar bear doesn't seem cold at all. He seems to be enjoying himself.

Weight Watchers

Good morning!

Weight Watchers has always worked for me in the past,
and then I quit. Why? I re-signed up AGAIN last Saturday.

I love how simple Weight Watchers is. No food is off limits. You look up the points for it and decide if it's worth it to you to use that many points for the food or not. That's the kind of freedom I need. When I'm told no or you can't have something, then that just makes me stubborn and want it all the more. Weight Watchers doesn't tell me no. It just says, okay it's xx amount of points. Do you want to spend that many points on this? If so, enjoy! If not, let's look for another option. Of course WW doesn't really talk to me. This is the conversation I have going on in my head. LOL

In the past, I'd lose some weight, get some compliments, feel good about myself, and then stop counting points. And then gaining it all back. And then getting depressed a little.

WW has so many groups you can join and the inspiration is overflowing! Not just recipe groups, or groups with women (or men) that are your age and doing this too, but other groups like CRAFTING, and READING, and one I found that I LOVE - EATING WELL AT DISNEY! (We are planning a trip to Disney later this year.)

When I signed up, I had to put in my name, height, current weight, that sort of thing. Had to answer a few questions about what I eat most, my exercise level, and the like. Then it came to put in a goal weight. That stumped me. It all seems so unreal. But okay, I put in a generous goal (a lot smaller than I am, but not really where I'd like to ultimately be.) Talked with my husband about what my goal should be (he's always so supportive, and this is a very hard subject for me to talk about.) So I put in a number I thought well, if I get that far I'll be happy.

Today, as I was cruising the Connect board (where people post questions, progress, non-scale victories, scale victories, struggles, before/after or before/current photos, etc... there was this one woman who is about my age (5 years older), my exact height (not many of us short ladies out there), and about my starting weight... and she got down to 109! Wha-what!? Okay, if she can go from that weight to 109, then I can do it! Reading her story was so encouraging and exciting.

I changed my goal weight to 109.

Ever look at photos and think, I wish I was as fat now as I thought I was then?
Yeah, me too.

I also look at pictures from my skinny days and think how good it felt to wear skinny clothes. How shopping was fun because everything fit exactly how it should.  Needless to say, I hate shopping now. But when I get skinny again (and I will), I will have so much fun clothes shopping again. I'll be able to wear cute things and not worry about how fat I look in it.

Thanks for hanging in there with this non-crafting post.

Big hugs to you!

Crafting Happiness Ch# 32 - Inspired by Book Cover

Hi, everyone! It's Monday which means it's time for a new challenge over at my Crafting Happiness Challenges blog! Come join us!

So this is a fun one!
Challenge #32 - Inspired by a Book Cover

You can use anything from this book cover to inspire your project. And remember, you can create ANYTHING - it doesn't have to be a card.

On a personal note: I love this Miss Fortune Series! The characters get into so much mischief. It's hilarious. You will be laughing out loud.  Here's the link on Goodreads if you want to see more of what the series is about. Click HERE.

I decided to use the pink flowers and butterfly from the cover to create my card.
All elements and card base are from an Anna Griffin card kit.

Hope you'll come join us this week at Crafting Happiness Challenges!

There's Gnome One Like You

Hi, everyone! So glad you are here.
Something just dawned on me this week. (Sometimes I'm a little slow on the uptake.) I have a subscription to the Silhouette Design Store, so I'm always looking to see what's new. I almost always just scroll right past all the sayings and things and move on to shapes and images. In my mind I'm thinking, those sayings are probably cute, but I'm not going to be making any t-shirts right now.

Um..... it just occurred to me, in an "ahh-ha" moment....

(Don't laugh too hard.)

.... these sayings can be cute for printed sentiments on my cards too! Just because they CAN be cut for wall art, mugs, t-shirts - doesn't mean they HAVE to be cut! Just print them out for sentiments or headlines on your projects!

Wha-what?!

It's just like having the stamp except I can resize it to fit my needs, and print it in any color to match the cardstock.  Have you guys been doing this? Why has no one told me about this idea? It took me a while to realize it, but I'm so glad I finally did!

Gnome and sentiment both from the silhouette store (but different files)
Gnome and sentiment both popped up on foam tape for dimension
Hearts cut out of hat were added to the sentiment
Scallop and circle punches (oh how I love squeeze punches - I need to use them more)
Miss Kate Cuttables Easter pattern cardstock (who says you have to limit yourself - use that pattern cardstock!)

Thanks for visiting with me today.
God bless you! Hugs!!

Don't Worry

Isn't it amazing how you hear exactly what you need to hear,
and sometimes before you know you need it?
I love that about God.

Busy couple of pages with no coloring, but I love the message!

Looks Like a Great Idea to Me

See that woman on the card? This will be me as soon as I finish writing this post. LOL Except I'll have 2 dogs with me, and I'll be crocheting instead of holding a beverage.

Image is from the Paper Shelter
BoBunny Christmas pattern cardstock (but I thought it went well with this card anyway)

Birthday Card for Him

First of all, this is a white card. I know it doesn't look like it, but it has been gloomy and raining for days. So just use your imagination that the card base is white and the cardstock with the image on it is white. :)

Stampin' Up, Epic Celebrations stamp set
Stampin' Up Blends coloring markers
Pink & Main pattern paper

I have to say.... this card was made especially for Cardz 4 Guyz.
One of the designers, Helen, had a really simply layout I wanted to try. Their challenge this week is to create a Clean & Simple card for him.

Now, let's review the hardest cards it is for me to make:

1) cards for him
2) clean and simple

I mean, come on! I love all the pattern papers layered on top of each other. Helen's card truly inspired me though, so I gave this challenge a try.

I don't do a lot of coloring, but I love simple coloring.

Have a marvelous rest of the week! It's all downhill from here.
Hugs! God bless you
