You are Capable of Great Things

I am so tickled with this card. I love that the trees in the background are bare, the tree in the foreground that I colored has flowers, and that the sentiment says, "You are capable of great things."  It all works together perfectly.

This sketch from Try Stampin' on Tuesday was used, which by the way is a great sketch blog if you like sketches.

The colors in the If You Give a Crafter a Cookie challenge were perfect for this project.

Stamps: SU Happy Hedgehogs, SU Through It Together
Dies: Sending, TSOL Dotted Rectangles
Punches: name
Cardstock: Basic White, Soft Suede
DSP: SU Rings of Love
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black
Blends: Soft Suede, Mossy Meadow, Cajun Craze, Mint Macaron Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green

Everything is Possible (cross-stitch)

Hi all! Today I have another cross-stitch project to share with you. I'm on a roll! LOL

I started cross-stitching when I was 11 years old. There are so many projects I have created over the years.... family trees, baby blankets, pillows, Christmas Stockings, vertical wall banners, framed wall art, bookmarks, etc all with cross-stitch. I love this hobby.  It was introduced to me in Bible School when I was 11. We made a very simple design that fit in one of those tiny wooden circles. From that moment on, I've never stopped creating with cross-stitch. I've taken breaks, but I always come back to it. Cross-stitching is very relaxing, but it's definitely not the instant gratification you get from making cards. LOL

If you enjoy this hobby, let me know in the comments. I'd love to hear about what you create and see some of your projects.

Thanks so much for visiting me today. I hope to hear from you in the comments.

Hugs!

Good morning!

I have a project to share with you today that's NOT made of paper.

This is something I've spent time on and off working on. Sometimes I went for months without even touching it. Happy to say it's all done now, and I love it.

The finished size is 16" x 14".

Here are some close ups of the stitches....

Do any of y'all cross-stitch? Comment below about one of your projects. I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks for visiting today!

Hugs!!

Challenge Myself: Annual Catalog Makes
I decided over the weekend, that I was going to challenge myself to create some of the beautiful project examples in the current Stampin' Up Annual Catalog.

Keep in mind, I don't have everything this catalog has to offer, but I feel like I can improvise with retired products or even products in my stash from other awesome companies as well.

Now, before some of you get offended or shocked that I would even MENTION using products from other companies, let me say, I love Stampin' Up. I've been a customer with them since the early 90's. I've even been a demo a few times now and then to use my own discount to stock up on things. That being said, there are many other awesome companies out there as well who offer great products. I have a variety of products I've collected over the decades, and I enjoy them all.

Today's card is on page 5 of the SU Annual Catalog. (I slightly modified it on my creation.)

Feel free to click and shop the products below.

#35 Happiness

Current Host Code: 7FZRHU9V

Hello my lovelies!

I decided to challenge myself to make cards following some of the samples in the Stampin’ Up Annual Catalog. This sounds fun! Some of them I may tweak a little depending on what supplies I have on hand to use.

Today, I decided to start with the card on the cover the of Annual catalog (also seen inside on page 1).

The supplies and store links are listed below, but if you want some measurements (I just guessed from looking at the catalog photo), here is what I used....
  • A2 size card 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Torn notebook paper (not really, it's just a cool die to make it look that way)
    • 3" x 4 1/4"
  • Sentiment matting
    • 2 7/8" x 1"
Here is something else you may not know that's REALLY COOL:
The Designer Series Paper (DSP) coordinates with the stamp dies... in other words....
YOU CAN DIE CUT OUT THE FLOWERS FROM THE DSP!
Wha-what?!  I love this!!

Stamps: 159238 Happiness Abounds
Dies: 158823 Blossoming Happiness
Bundle: 158824 Happiness Abounds Bundle (save 10%)
Cardstock: 159276 Basic White
DSP: 158822 Hues of Happiness
Inks: 147051 Melon Mambo, 147095 Granny Apple Green
Other: 104430 Dimensionals, 158827 Glossy Dots Assortment

#29 A Trio of Christmas Cards

July Host Code: KB7G7QQ7

Hi, everyone! Here is a Trio of Christmas cards I made over the weekend. I dug out some older Stampin' Up stamps and diamond glimmer paper and had some fun! However, I had a terrible time trying to photograph them. They are so pretty and sparkly in person.

I started out deciding which stamp set I wanted to use, and I chose the Perfect Blend #130745 from several years ago....
.....
Let me interrupt myself here to say this:  Yes, it's fun to buy new stamps that come out, but don't forget about the love you have for your older stamps as well. They are still as awesome as they were when you were so excited to purchase them way back when. As a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I sometimes feel like I HAVE to only use the new stuff, and then I ask myself, WHY?  Honestly, I love SU goodies, but I use my stash. That means you'll see older products, other brands, etc. When I create, I create with the freedom and joy of using my stash.....
even if it's old, wherever I purchased it from.....
okay.... back to today's post.....

I started out stamping this image 3 times on Basic White cardstock, then fussy cut them.

Then I decided which Christmas theme Designer Series Papers I wanted to use - Boughs of Holly was the winner.

I stamped the image on 3 designs and fussy cut them out.

Now, this is what I have so far for my 3 cards.

Next I cut out each section of the pattern cups:
1) Lid
2) Cup body
3) Band

I started to mix up the cut pieces onto the white cup bases. I found there was one piece of the cup base I didn't want to use below the middle cup's lid, because it blended too well therefore making the lid not very distinct. So....

I added it to the middle cup's band instead. Now all of the cut up pieces are used, and I'm happy with the results.

I used Chic Dies and some leftover Basic White cardstock (I save all my scraps) and continued to run it through the Big Shot to get as may snowflakes from that scrap piece as possible.

You'll notice that some of the snowflakes are just partial cuts. This is perfect! I can use them to go off the page or behind an image, etc. Nothing goes to waste.

Time to start making some cards!

All of my cards are A2 size: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
(tent style meaning the card flips up to open - my fav)

Card #1

All 3 cards have a pattern paper base cut at 4" x 5 1/4"
All 3 cards have a strip of Diamond Glimmer cardstock cut at various widths
All 3 cards have a band strip layered with the glimmer cardstock at various widths

Chic Dies for snowflakes (notice some of them are going off the page or tucked behind an object)

I used old (retired) Diamond Glimmer cardstock, but White Glimmer paper that will work just as beautifully.

The sentiment was stamped from Christmas Scottie stamp set (new Mini Catalog), and die cut using retired Lots of Labels Framelits Dies #138281. I cut the same size label twice: once in Basic White and once in Shaded Spruce cardstock. I cut the Shaded Spruce label in the middle and extended it past both ends of the sentiment label for creative matting.

Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added under the glimmer cardstock.

Ribbon duo pack, Real Red & Garden Green #159577, added behind sentiment label

Hot Christmas drink added with Stampin' Dimensionals

Card #2

Card base Shaded Spruce

Red Rhinestones added to the pattern paper on the top part of the card

All other supplies listed with Card #1

Card #3

Banners Pick a Punch for Diamond Glimmer Paper

Some of the Banner Pick a Punch cut off pieces were used at the top of the card for a border
(save your scraps - they can be used for so many things on other projects)

Stamps: Retired Perfect Blend, Christmas Scottie

Dies: Chic, Retired Lots of Labels

Punches: Banner Pick a Punch

Cardstock: Basic White, Cherry Cobbler, Diamond Glimmer, Shaded Spruce

DSP: Boughs of Holly

Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black

Other: Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Real Red & Garden Green Ribbon Bundle, Red Rhinestones, Rhinestone Basic Jewels
