2020 Just Ahead

Do you have any goals for the new year?
I'm going to start Scripture Writing in 2020.
I found lots of printouts from various sites,
but my favorite
(and the one I'll be doing)
is from Sweet Blessings.

Check it out.
Let me know if you'll be doing some Scripture Writing in 2020.
Hugs!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Merry Christmas, everyone!
May God Bless You, keep you safe, and provide for all your needs in the coming year.

Here are some little treats I made for all the children and grandchildren.  I threw a big one in there for Tom too. LOL

The cut file is from the Silhouette store, but I can not find it or remember what it's called. I've had it a while, so looking through my recent downloads doesn't help at all. I do remember the file did NOT come with the pattern paper size cuts. I did those by hand. These are stuffed with candy. Because everyone needs to load up on sugar on Christmas morning, right?

What are y'all doing today?
Everyone is coming here first thing in the morning.
Open presents; play BINGO with White Elephant gifts, snack on sweet sugary goodies, then half the family will leave to go to visit their significant others' families, while some stay for a Vegan lunch. We are having a VERY simple Christmas this year. Like last year, our gifts are all hand-made or extremely inexpensive or from Goodwill or other type of thrift store. It's not about the money spent. It's about spending time with family. We plan on playing lots of games like Pictionary, Uno, Phase Ten, Family Feud, etc. Can't wait. We always have so much fun playing games!

I said above that Christmas is about Family. But let me be clear. Christmas is truly about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ who ultimately paid for our sins so that we would be seen as righteous through the blood of Jesus and welcomed into heaven even though we don't deserve eternity with God. That's how much He loves us.

Enjoy your family, your friends, your holiday. If you are alone this Christmas, please know you are not really alone. Others care for you and love you. Sometimes it's hard to travel and see you, and sometimes we lose loved ones during the year that can't visit. I'm really missing my Mama who passed away a few months ago. I keep wanting to mail her a card. She loved getting my cards in the mail. Not because they are awesome or anything like that, she has always loved mailing cards and receiving them. Don't we all?

Merry Christmas.
I'm praying for each one of you reading my blog today. I may not know you visited if you don't leave a comment, but God knows who you are. Be blessed.

Christmas hugs and Candy Cane kisses,
:) Janis

2020 A to Z Reading Challenge (Hosted by Ginger Mom & Company)

Me again! Wow... 2 posts in one day... feels like old times....

In addition to the Kindle Unlimited Challenge,
I'll also be participating in the A to Z Ready Challenge for 2020 hosted by Ginger Mom & Company.
You can check it out on their blog HERE.

The books I read that work with both the Kindle Unlimited and A to Z challenges, will be used for both. If that makes sense.

That is all.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
I have to run to Bi-Lo for green peppers now so Tom can cook supper.
Yum!
Hugs!

2020 Reading Challenge

Hello my friends!
It's getting close to the end of the year.
What did you read in 2019?
I set a goal of  40 books to read this year.
To date I've read 57. Pretty happy with that.
Next year my goal will be a little larger.

I'm joining the Kindle Unlimited Challenge hosted by
astoldbytina.net. Check it out! You may want to get involved.
Don't worry about setting a lofty goal. You can always up it or downsize depending on how your year is going. The point is (well, for me anyway), is to find time to read. To lose yourself in a story. Or find yourself there. To meet new friends. Learn new things. Discover new places; and so much more.

Feel free to friend request me there too, suggest a book I may enjoy, and all of those good things Goodreads offers for us.

Have a tremendously fabulous day.
Big hugs!
:) Janis

What's New With You?

Hi, everyone!

It's been a while since I've had daily posts to my blog. So here's a little update on the Lewis Family:

We finally got some "sightlesses" up (as Tom calls blinds). Yay!
Now everyone passing or walking by doesn't get sucked into watching what we are watching on TV. LOL

We also got some gas lines run in all of the fireplaces downstairs and a couple other rooms. Temporarily we've installed some gas heaters in some rooms, but eventually we will get gas logs installed. There are 3 fireplaces downstairs, and 3 upstairs. Gotta love these old houses.

I've signed up for my first paint class in January. We are going to paint the above picture. I've been wanting to do a group paint class for a long time, and there is a new place in town (walking distance from our house), that offers public group paint classes and private group classes. I rounded up a few friends and family, and we are all looking forward to a private paint class the first week in January. Should be a ton of fun.

Currently, I'm working on this Old Couple cross stitch piece. (Photo from Amazon) It has 47 colors and a total of 27,872 stitches. I'm loving it!  I have the far right side to finish (dresser, wall above dresser, cat and mattress under cat).  Not too much more, and I'll be done. Hopefully it will be finished soon so I can get it framed and start a new piece.

I should be back to more posting on my blog in January. Thanks for not forgetting about me. I had turned off commenting for a while because I was being flooded with spammers. Hopefully they've all moved on now, and I have commenting enabled again. (Pop up window)
I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Cookies Gift Box

These boxes are so fun!
The Gingerbread boy and girl are Miss Kate Cuttables from the Silhouette library. The boxes with Sentiments are Jamie Lane Designs also from the Silhouette library. I used a dot embossing folder for the covers instead of pattern papers. Also, I used a new glue which I do not like for these projects. Since I tend to smear glue everywhere, even though the bottle says it dries clear, it still made a mess on the gingerbread children. Oh well, I think the person receiving these will be more excited about the cookies in the box than notice the imperfections on my designs. :) Also used on the boxes were Stampin' Up stitched circle die, and scallop circle dies for the Cookies for You print and cuts. Again, not perfect. My printer is giving me printing troubles, so I had to improvise a little.

Have a Great first week of December.

Hi, everyone!
Today I have a fun little 3D project to share with you.

The box can be opened and filled with goodies.
This cut came from the Silhouette library.

Many Cards, One Kit #16

Celebrate Autumn Collection Kit, Card #16

This month I will be showing several cards all made with the Echo Park, Celebrate Autumn 12x12 Collection kit. I was inspired by Mary @ Cardz TV and from several other YouTube channels showing ways to use up your papers while making many, many cards & tags.

I really needed this boost in my Mojo.  All of the cards are super simple. Only a couple of them actually have stamping done on them. Instead I let the papers and stickers do most of the talking.

I hope you'll enjoy this series.

Thanks for visiting.
Have a blessed day.

If it's going to be this Cold, It should go ahead and just Snow then

First of all, Happy Birthday to our 2 four-legged girls,
Mary Ann & Ginger! 6 years old today!
(Yes, their names are from Gilligan's Island.)

Second, it's COLD!
We don't have central Heat and Air.... yet... so we are using heaters.
It helps. We are very grateful for them, but it's still COLD!
I mean, when you get up to go let the dog's out in the morning,
and you can see your breath because we don't have portable heaters in every room,
that's just crazy. hahahaha
No worries, we are working on some solutions.

But, that leads me to the THIRD thing which has 3 points:
1) I deal much better with heat than I do bitter cold even though we did live in Alaska 3 different times.
AND
2) I think the bears have the right idea, sleep through the winter and just wake back up when it's warmer outside.
AND
3) I can see why older people move to Florida.  I'm not that old. Only 54, but I get so stiff in the cold.

Okay, enough whining about that....

All day I've had the Winter Wonderland song stuck in my head. I was even singing it out loud for a little while. LOL

Lori Whitlock Snowman Box card design
Miss Kate Cuttables pattern papers.
I love box cards.

P.S. See that mirror with the "J" on it? That was my Mama's. Her name was Judy. I miss my Mama.

Ornament Fun Fold Card

Card elements from Lori Whitlock's library; however, I did not use her card base. I find it much easier to fold back the cover of an A2 card and use the elements on my card that way. 6x6 paper pad, A Perfect Christmas and Stampin' Up set, Oh What Fun along with Stampin' Up scallop and oval dies for sentiment. On the ornament, I used white shimmer paper. Doesn't look like the photo picked that up, but it's really pretty and subtle in person. This card was made especially for PINspirational Challenge Blog.
