I am very interested in Genealogy.
According to dictionary.com....

ge·ne·al·o·gy

  [jee-nee-ol-uh-jee, -al-, jen-ee-]  Show IPA
noun, plural -gies.
1.
a record or account of the ancestry and descent of aperson, family, group, etc.
2.
the study of family ancestries and histories.
3.
descent from an original form or progenitor; lineage;ancestry.
4.
Biology a group of individuals or species having a commonancestry: The various species of Darwin's finches form aclosely knit genealogy.

For several years, I've been researching different avenues discovering all kinds of information about our family's ancestors. This includes uncovering amazing pictures, documents, and stories involving our ancestors. In my research, I have found over 6,700 individuals; over 2,400 marriages; 13 generations; over 1,200 surnames..... and the average lifespan for a member in our family is 61.5 years. Now consider with that how many babies and young children died during a time of medical ignorance.

For today's project, I made a scrapbook page layout featuring one of my ancestors, JOHN MARTIN HOOK.  We are able to track John back to the ship he came to American on from Hesse, Germany. This page shows a brief summary of John and a page excerpt from the American Revolution Roll Book. John is listed here as a Sergeant.

I find this all very fascinating.  I know it's not for everyone, but I hope I've peaked your interest a little with this project.
