SUMMER GARDEN SWINGING

Awwww, so sweet.  I may use this as my Anniversary card to my hubby next week.  On Monday we celebrate our 24th Anniversary.  Hard to believe it's been that long and on the other hand, it feels like we've been married all our lives.  I'm so glad we have each other!

Card base White from Value Pack pre-scored for easy folding
Papers from Debbie Mumm and DCWV various stacks
Image found on Google searching "free coloring pages"
Image printed on Confetti card stock
Colored with Crayola Magic Markers and Crayons
Ribbon from Michael's
Cricut Cartridge:  LIFE IS A BEACH
Bamboo page 32 cut @ 4"
Flower page 35 cut @ 2"
Cuts enhanced with Stampin Up chalks
Background of image colored with blue Stampin Up Chalks using finger to smear it all around

I'm very happy with how this came out.  Very pleasing to look at.  I may have to frame it and leave it on my desk.  LOL

Have a fabulously, fun day!

52Q WEEK 3 - WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE SONG RIGHT NOW?

Happy Tuesday morning to you!
Ready for Week 3 of the 52Q Mini Me Book?
This week's question is provided by Joyce, Sister of the Moon.  Click here to visit her blog.
52Q, Week 3
"WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SONG RIGHT NOW?"
I made my page look like a bucket full of sunshine instead.  LOL
I'll put the answer on that green tag and slip it back inside my page.
My pages are made by putting adhesive (photo splits) on the top and bottom of the inside of an A2 size card. When the card is closed it leaves the side available to slip in a tag for the answer.  It could also be sealed on the bottom and side and leave the top open to slip a tag in.
I've also made these mini books using A2 size envelopes which also works out very well.  You just seal the envelope, cover it with pattern paper and cut a slight slit down one side for your "pocket".

There is a video below about this week's question.
At the end of this post, I'll leave links to all the Questions we've had so far.
Please post a link to your creation using the Blue Frog button at the bottom of this post.  You will be able to link to your project through next August which will be the end of our 52 weeks of questions.  So, at any time, others can jump in and join us, or you can catch up if you've been missing a few weeks.

Thank you all so much for all the positive emails, comments on YouTube, comments on my blog, and on Facebook about this project.  It's much more fun when I know I'm not the only one having a blast with this!

If you'd like to submit a question or questions for one of the 52 weeks, send me an email at northrose @ slowar dot com.  If I use your question, I will mention your blog / YouTube Channel / etc. and leave a link for others to go check out your site.

Thanks again for joining us in on all the fun!!
Toodles!
Enjoy the video, and don't forget to link your project at the bottom of this post!

TRIANGLE FOLD CARD VIDEO TUTORIAL

Here's a video tutorial on how to make this Triangle Fold Card.
Yes, it will fit into a regular A2 size envelope.  :)

ZOO!

This week over at PAPER PLAYTIME, the theme is ZOO!  How fun is that?!!!
I made 2 projects for this theme using images from Digital Delights by Louby Loo.

The above project is just a Zoo Sign so you know where all the animals are.  Well, at least the ones with Spots, Stripes, and Fur.  LOL  I just love this soft green and blue together with just a dash of yellow.  :)  Makes me happy.  Of course that pretty flower ribbon adds to my smile as well.

This second project cracks me up with laughter!  It's one of my new favorite folds - the Triangle Fold card.

Here's a close-up of the last page:

LOL!  I just love that!  "Hello."  "I like Chocolate."  "THANKS!"   hahahahahahahahahahahaa

I'm feeling it!  Are you feeling it?

Have a spotty, striped, furry day!

Happy Michael's Mini Shopping

Look!  I've been wanting some fairy digi stamps or clear stamps.  This isn't EXACTLY the kind of fairy I've been looking for, but I thought this whole set was a good one.  I got it with a coupon today at Michael's for $4.19.

Then there's these little guys out the dollar bins.

The elephant pic didn't come out too good, but it says, "JUMBO thank you!" and "I luv you a ton!".  He was only 1 cent!!!!!  Of course I didn't know that until I got home and was looking at my receipt.

The owl stamp says, "it's OWL good".  LOL

I also got a circle punch (FINALLY!) and a round metal storage tin.  I spent less than $22 and that included a new pair of reading glasses, a straw purse for Bonnie, a new pocketbook for me, and the stamps pictured above with stops at Target, Hobby Lobby, and Michael's.  I love coupons!

Okay, gotta go do some crafty fun stuff now.  Enjoy your Saturday!  Toodles!

KISS THE TOAD!

This card just came together so easily.  How often does that happen?  I'm using these gorgeous papers from S.E.I. received from Jenny over at Wee Memories. I love the texture of these papers.

Video Tutorial added below.
  • Card base is Aqua card stock cut to make A2 size card.
  • Burgundy ribbon from Michael's.
  • Rhinestones from Joann's.
  • Paper Frame easy instructions HERE.  Basically you start with 4 1/4 square paper - preferably double-sided. (However, I have made this with paper I glued back to back to appear double-sided.  You can see that HERE.) Using Martha Stewart Scoring Board, score diagonally at 1" and 1 1/2" on all 4 sides. Fold corners toward center of card and fold tips back out.  3" left in center of frame for image.  Place pop up squares or dots for dimension.
  • PAPER DOLL DRESS UP page 47 for frog and crown.  Frog cut on REAL DIAL SIZE 1 1/2".  Crown cut without RDS @ 3 1/2".

WHO YOU CALLING NUTS?

Can you believe this is the only card I got made today?  That's odd.  I was busy catching up on everyone's blog, running to the library, and visiting with my daughter and niece who came for a short visit today.

This is my submission for Paper Cutz Challenge #53:
For challenge # 53, make a card, LO or craft project using a digital, hand stamped or Cricut cut image of a monkey, skunk, squirrel or hedgehog and any colors you'd like.

Card base Violet from Value Pack pre-scored for easy folding.
Papers from stash - either DCWV or Debbie Mumm.
Ribbon from Michael's.  It actually has white dots on it, but I used the "wrong" side.  Worked for me.
I inked some corners and edges with Color Box Chalk inks.
Image from Google FREE color page search.  Too cute.  He looks like he got caught in the act.

Have a fun evening!  See you tomorrow!  Toodles,

Janis

52Q WEEK 2 - WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?

Welcome to Week 2 of 52Q(uestions)! I have edited the code for submitting your projects each week.  I have extended the entry time to August 2, 2011, so at any time you can submit your projects for any week through the end of all the 52Q!  Yeah!!

52Q Week 2
When you were a kid
What did you want to be
when you grew up?

Here's my page 2!  I tried something different for this page.  Instead of sealing an A2 size envelope, covering it with paper, and cutting down one side for an opening to put my answer in, I just took a Value Pack card (pre-scored for easy folding) and adhered the top and bottom, leaving the side "open-able".  I think it worked out well.

Here's my inside shape to write my answer on the back.

My Daddy always said I could be anything I wanted when I grew up.  So I wanted to be an Indian.
Page base Orange Textured Card from Value Pack
Kraft mat cut @ 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"
Pattern mat (DCWV Green Stack) cut @ 5 1/4" x 4"
Sentiment printed using PrintMaster
Font "CK Handprint"
Line 1 @ 14
Line 2 @ 18
Line 3 @ 14
Orange Sentiment mat cut @ 3 1/4" x 1 3/8"
Kraft Sentiment mat cut @ 3 1/8" x 1 1/4"
White Sentiment mat cut @ 3" x 1 1/8"
All edges inked with ColorBox "DUNE"
Cricut Cartridge: PAPER DOLL DRESS UP
Outside: Indian and Accessories page 61 cut @ 3" with Recollections paper
Inside:  Indian dress cut @ 3 1/2" REAL DIAL SIZE
Inside:  Neckace cut @ 1 1/2" REAL DIAL SIZE

This Mini Me Book is just for fun.  Just think... by this time next year, you'll have a 52 page MINI ME ALBUM ALL ABOUT YOU!!  Amazing, huh?!
Remember, you can build your MINI ME BOOK in any format that suits you.  Some ideas are:

  1. Use an old deck of cards (maybe some of the cards are missing)
  2. Use a flash card pack from the Dollar Store
  3. Tags
  4. A2 size Cards from Value Pack, cut along score line
  5. Toilet Paper Roll
  6. Envelopes with question outside and answer on tag inside
  7. Alter a small journal
  8. Name Badges
  9. Altered Recipe Box with Index cards for each week's question and answer on the back
Do you have more ideas?  Do you have a question you'd like to submit?  Leave a comment letting me know what your ideas are.  If your question is chosen, a link will be included to your blog. (Please make sure you provide me with your blog link when you submit your questions.)

Hit the little blue froggy below to show us your page and link to your blog or photo.

Thanks for playing!

Janis

You can now link each week's project directly to that week's post.  I have changed the posting time not to end until all 52 Q's weeks are finished in August 2011!  There is a master list for each week's question on my sidebar.  If you ever get behind, just refer to that list, go to that week's post, and then link your project for that week.  :)

SCHOOL DAYS PAPER PLAYTIME CHALLENGE!

Good Monday Morning all my Bloggy Friends!

I have scheduled this to post on Monday morning.  But please keep my family in your prayers and good thoughts today.  We are actually in Charleston at the VA Hospital where my Daddy is having heart surgery this morning.  They are doing a triple by-pass which will also take care of the aneurysm he has in his heart.  I would be grateful for all the positive thoughts and prayers you can send our way.  When I get home, I'll post an update.

Today, Paper Playtime is having Challenge #11 with the theme:

SCHOOL DAYS

You can interpret this theme any way you like and make whatever kind of project you want as long as it's made with PAPER!  I'm the PAPER QUEEN this week!  Woooo-Hoooooo!

Also, we are sponsored by THE STAMPING BOUTIQUE this week who has tons of adorable images.  Their School Days images are perfect for this week's challenge!

Here is my "BEFORE" picture of the item I altered.  (I really hope this doesn't offend anyone.)

And here are my "AFTER" pictures:

I used 2 digi images from THE STAMPING BOUTIQUE.  The images were colored with Crayola markers, crayons, and pencils.

I used the divider that came in the box, but reinforced it with some chipboard to separate my markers from my pencils.

The papers are from Debbie Mumm NURSERY RHYME.  These papers are so soft and pretty.

Flowers (Prima Costa Bright), buttons, and jute from Joann's & Michael's.

I used that "hard to use" roll of red double sided sticky tape. (I'd like it much better if you could tear the tape instead of having to cut it with the scissors.)  And the images and flowers were adhered with pop dots for dimension.

Hope you enjoy this and it inspires you to hop over to Paper Playtime and play along!
THE WINNER WILL RECEIVE 5 DIGI IMAGES OF THEIR CHOICE FROM THE STAMPING BOUTIQUE!

Have a BLESSED day, my friends!  :)
