March Calendar Page

Hi from South Carolina!

My mama and daddy called me yesterday. They are a riot when they call because they are either both on an extension and talking at the same time or adding info to what the other one is telling me, or like yesterday, one's on the phone with me and the other is in the background yelling info to add. LOL They crack me up.  So Daddy asked if me, Tom, and Bonnie would come see him this weekend. I said yes. I love my parents.

This year I have been posting Calendar Pages on the first of each month. Calendar pages are something new and different I'm doing this year. I make them 12" x 12" and staple them to my craft room wall above my computer monitor for easy reference to dates. When the month is over, I put it in my scrapbook.

For March, I started the calendar page last night and finished it up this morning. I just can't seem to make myself wait and post it on March 1st. LOL I want to show it to you now. LOL

Come join us on Facebook at the PLAY ALONG Group and upload your photo of your calendar page creation!  Find us here.... http://www.facebook.com/groups/231695926966319/

Bugaboo Fairy

Hello!! Hope your week is going well. I'm so looking forward to our son getting transferred from Ft. Irwin (Army) in California to Ft. Jackson here in Columbia, South Carolina in a few weeks! Woo-Hoo! Won't be long now, and I'll get to see him often!!

Recently I won a challenge over at Love To Create Challenges. THANK YOU!

(You can see all the challenges I win or make Top 3 on my Page Tab called AWARDS or CLICK HERE.)

I was lucky enough to win some BUGABOO images. I love me some BUGABOO! I couldn't wait to start coloring, and the card I want to show you today is the first I've been able to color so far this week.

First I colored the image with BIC markers. (I got these last year and love coloring with them!) Then I used a Stampin' Up template to mask over part of the image paper so I could chalk the background. (I got this template in the 90's. Gee whiz... that's OLD!)

Here's what I got after chalking....

  • A2 size card 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Stampin' Up cardbase (Kraft)
  • BUGABOO image
    • Colored with BIC markers
    • Background chalked
    • White gel pen used for hair accents
  • Ribbon from Joann's
  • Button from TSQ's Royal Castle Shoppe on Facebook (Shop TSQ here)
  • Pattern paper from Recollections 180 stack "Bright and Basic"
  • CARDZ TV STAMPS:
    • "Simply Said" stamp set inked with Memento Tuxedo Black ink
    • If you can only buy 1 stamp set, this is a good one! There's about 22 different sentiments on there ranging from encouragement, just because, etc.
    • Shop CTVS here
  • Image, sentiment, and pattern paper all inked around the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink
Thanks for stopping by today! :) Janis

Paper Bag Mini in Progress!

Hello all my bloggy, crafty friends! I have been working on a vertical paper bag mini album with the Facebook Group PLAY ALONG via Ginger's Videos with step by step instructions. (She's such a good teacher!) You can find Ginger at My Sister's Scrapper or look in the FILES section of the PLAY ALONG group on Facebook for links to all the videos in the Paper Bag Mini series.

Facebook PLAY ALONG group... HERE
Ginger @ My Sister's Scrapper... HERE

I thought I'd show you some progress photos of my paper bag mini.  I'm using the DCWV 12x12 stack Today.Tomorrow. Forever. (Some of the pages are glittered.)

Here are some of my pages and things I've been working on. I still have a lot to do before it's put together and finished.

Here is the inside and outside with the covered chipboard, but no decorations, papers, etc.

Here is the inside front and back cover finished with papers.

The inside cover has 2 coin size envelopes (made with my We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board - shop TSQ on FB... HERE). I then used Close to My Heart's Art Philosophy cartridge for the pull tabs on the pull out photo mats. It's on page 48 cut @ 1 1/2" using the CARD FEATURE. I adhered 2 pieces of cardstock back to back and inserted the pull tab between them before adhering them together. (shop CTMH with Lucy... HERE)

Here are the photo mats pulled out of the coin envelopes.

On the inside back cover is the photo mat "waterfall." This was so easy to make. I can see me doing this technique again and again on different things.

Here are some of my pages front and back with photo mat tags inserted into pockets. These pages also have a flap that folds open.

So... here is one page front and back and with the flap open. Each page has a pocket on the back and an insert in the top (the opening of the paper bag). You can get the idea that there is tons of room for all kinds of photos and memorabilia with this mini album!

Front of page - flap closed...

Flap opened and tag sticking partially out...

Same page but with tag all the way out. All of my tags have pattern paper at the top for a 4" x 6" photo (or whatever else I want to put there) and then a journaling area at the bottom.

This is the back with the back of the photo pull out tag and the pocket tag inserted.

Pocket tag taken out.

Back of pocket tag.

A few of my other pages and their photo pull out mats with journaling at the bottom.

That's what I've gotten done so far. I need to get all the pages decorated, the front and back covers and the spine decorated, and then I can add all my pages to the inside of my mini book! There is no time limit on this project if any of you guys want to pop over to our PLAY ALONG Facebook group and play along. We are all adding our progress photos to the album in the group. It's fun to see what every one is up to, and plus it helps spur ideas too.

Have a great day! :) Janis

P.S.  I wish I could enter this into some challenges today, but it's not finished yet.
