Scrapbook Layout & Calendar Page: PDE & PPT CH#12

Paper Playtime (PPT) Ch# 12 Anything Goes
Begins: Monday, Jun 10
Ends: Sunday, Jun 23

I didn't make a layout for today. I need to get some photos developed! But I did want to show you a layout I created featuring our special needs daughter, Bonnie. This layout was posted to my blog last November. You can see details about that HERE.

I did, however, create a calendar page to show you today!  Here's my June Calendar made with the Cameo and the Cricut and lots of step by step photos using the Silhouette Software. :)

I like to try to make my calendars a little different each month. For June I used STICKERS for the day abbreviations and date numbers.  I love my "beach sand" at the bottom.
Stampin' Up - Soft Suede #115318 cardstock for beach sand

The calendar grid and June were cut on the same mat so I could see about sizing.  The grid is the same one I used last month (it's a print & cut), but I adjusted it into a CUT version and moved the squares around a little to give me thicker grid lines. I also deleted the day abbreviations as I knew I'd use something else for that.

For the beach items at the bottom in the sand, even though all of these are SVG cuts, I converted them into PRINT & CUTs through the Silhouette Software. Here's how I did it...

First I told my Silhouette software I would be using 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock on my mat.

Then I told it to show the registration marks on my paper.

I then pulled images from the library to place on the mat. All of my images are regular SVG cuts, but I wanted to print them in color and have the Silhouette cut around the edges.

Notice I made sure all of my images were within the "white space" and not overlapping the grayed out area.  Now since these are images I want to print and cut, I need to tell the Silhouette to trace the outside of each image.

I chose Select Trace Area and dragged the box to surround all the images.

Notice how the images are traced in yellow? That's a great start, but since I need clean trace lines, I'll have to make sure the image is completely filled in with yellow (or as completely as I can manually adjust it.) To do this I turn OFF "High Pass Filter," and then move the THRESHOLD over until I feel the yellow is as filled in as possible around the image edges.

You can see below how the images turn all yellow. This is good. :)

Now I have to tell it to do the tracing. I want to cut around the outer edge, so I'm going to select my trace area for TRACE OUTER EDGE.

Now the images will all have red lines around them showing you where it will cut after they are printed.

Isn't that just nifty?  Time to print them!  Select the SEND TO PRINTER button. Be sure to adjust your printer settings accordingly. I changed my printer settings to Cardstock, use all available colors, and Automatic for print quality.

After your printer does it's magic, it's time to let your Silhouette do it's magic!  Place your printed cardstock on your Silhouette mat following the placement as shown on your Silhouette software screen. Click on the SEND TO SILHOUETTE button.

Since we've already printed the images, select the SKIP PRINTING option next.

You'll need to select a cut image option here. Choose DETECT AUTOMATICALLY. Here the Silhouette will move around on your mat looking for and remembering where the Registration marks are. This tells your machine where the images are that need to be cut in relation to where the registration marks appear on your cardstock. (The Cameo is so smart.)

It's time to cut them out! Adjust your CURRENT SETTINGS accordingly for your cut job.

Voila! WOW! Your images have been printed and cut! Woo-Hoo!

This is a great feature of the Cameo and a good option when you don't want to paper piece or if you don't have the colors available for your cuts that you prefer.

NOTE:  I've done my best to give you the most accurate instructions for PRINT & CUT, however, use your own common sense to make adjustments where necessary. These instructions may not be perfect or be perfect for the job you want to do in your own craft room.
