Anna Griffin... Roses and Butterflies

I love Anna Griffin's card making kit! The papers and embellishments are just gorgeous! Here's a card I made this morning.

Anna Griffin's card making kit has tons of 3D embellishments. Layer upon layer upon layer... Everything coordinates and matches, so I just don't see how you can go wrong no matter what combination of products you toss together for a project.  I did a little inking around the edge of the striped cardstock with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink (more than 6 months old for that ink - and it still works like a charm!)

Thanks for stopping by today! :) Janis

My Guy

Hi! Hope your week has started off well. I was super busy yesterday washing clothes, running errands, bathed the 60 pound doggie, washed the sofa cushion covers, caught up on laundry, and on the phone for about 3 hours with several phone calls, getting transferred, holding, holding, holding, etc trying to straighten out insurance stuff. Thankfully, it wasn't as nearly painful as I had dreaded it would be, and the end result was that it was all straightened out very nicely. :)  So today I've straightened up my Craft Room a little bit re-arranging some things, and I have to tell you. What my husband says is so very true, "A clean work space is a productive work space." You got that right.

I got out some old Stampin' Up stamps and thought I'd do some stamping this morning. Here's what I came up with...

I wanted to use the "Fishin' " set....

At first I thought I would just create a scene with the Cattails and grasses, but then decided to use the fishing basket and hat instead.  I knew I wanted the fishing pole leaning on the basket but behind the hat, so I had to do some masking.

First, I stamped the basket and hat image on the cardstock I was going to use for my final image. Then I stamped the basket and hat image again on a scrap piece of paper and cut along the edge of the image near where I'd "lean" the fishing pole.

Then I placed this scrap piece on my paper that would be used for the final image right on top of the image I wanted to keep clean. I lined up the fishing pole as best I could and stamped across the hat (you can barely see the pole piece on the hat edge to the right.) Let me tell you, clear stamps have spoiled me! These stamps are old and were sold before clear stamps were an option. So this was not as easy as it would have been, but still worked out just fine.

I removed the scrap piece and started coloring with BIC markers and chalks. :)

Here is the finished card:

  • A2 size card "Portrait" style 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Card base is dark Kraft cardstock from Stampin' Up
  • Black background cut @ 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  • Red heart background cut @ 4" x 5 1/4" (from 6x6 Love Note pad)
  • Image matted with black cardstock then orange gingham. Orange gingham from 6x6 "Signature Collection Gingham" pad.
  • Cardz TV Stamps "It's A Guy Thing" stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

Think Spring!

Happy Sunday, everyone! I went to Walmart over the weekend and they had a bunch of Studio G clear stamps (like you can get at Michael's) for 10 cents each. I grabbed about 6 of them because I didn't want to take all they had in case someone else (like me) would want some too. I made this card using one of the new stamps. Love it!

  • A2 size card 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Sutdio G clear stamp for bicycle
  • Bicycle and sentiment both stamped with Stampin' Up Ruby Red ink (I have about 30 ink pads from Stampin' Up that I bought in the 90's and they STILL will stamp well!)
  • Sentiment matting is a Stampin' Up punch called "Modern Label" adhered with foam tape for dimension.
  • Cardz TV Stamps "Think Spring" stamp set
  • Butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch. I added a clear rhinestone to the body, adhered it with tiny glue dots in the center and folded up the wings a little for "flight."
  • The grass is a combination of green and brown chalking.
  • Washi tape across the top.
  • Shop Stampin' Up with Rose HERE
  • Shop Cardz TV Stamps with Mary HERE

Butterfly Kisses

Happy Friday to you! Did you see the new Paper Playtime Design Team announcement yesterday over at the challenge blog? No? You missed it? Well, go check it out!

This morning I watched one of Dawn's YouTube videos. I think she is so creative. I love the stuff she makes because even if I don't have all the things she uses, I can adapt it easily to what I do have and still make the project work.  Dawn's video tutorial is HERE.

Here's all the details for the mini cards I made.

  • Card base 3" x 6". Score and fold at 3" for 3" x 3" card using white cardstock
  • White cardstock top piece cut at 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"
  • Top piece embossed at top edge only using Cuttlebug folder "Juli's Garden"
  • Cardz TV Stamps "Think Spring" for "Butterfly kisses" stamped using Memento Tuxedo black ink
  • Recollections METAL Butterfly brads for all of the cards except the orange one where I used an orange Recollection glittered butterfly sticker instead
  • Strips of colorful pattern paper cut @ 3/4" x 2 3/4" (all colors except the blue are BoBunny Double Dots - shop TSQ HERE. The blue dots is from Recollections 180 stack "Bright and Basic.")
  • Top piece adhered to cardbase using foam tape for dimension
  • Envelopes made using the new We R Memory Keepers "Envelope Punch Board." See my tutorial video for that below or click HERE to visit YouTube. I totally forgot to mention in the video that one side of the punch is the notch, and the other side is a corner rounder. (shop TSQ HERE)

That's it! Very easy and fast to get an assembly line going for all 5 mini cards. This project took me just a few minutes. Give it a try!

Smiles :) Janis
