Itty Bitty Mini Album

My friend, Mary of Cardz TV, is brilliant! Recently we were in a blog hop together where we each made some sort of mini album. Mary came up with a coin envelope mini that everyone immediately loved. She went on to create a video explaining how to make it with measurements and all the details you need. I just had to give this a try!

Christmas in July

I know shocker, right? I never participate with the Christmas in July "goings on" each year. But lately I have found a few challenge blogs that I'm really enjoying, and The Paper Players is having a "Christmas in July" challenge, so I thought, "Hmmm....."  I don't have any current Stampin' Up Christmas stamps (but I have the mini Holiday catalog sneak peek, and the catalog is full of fun things for Oct, Nov, and Dec!)

So in order to play with The Paper Players this go round, I pulled out some old retired Stampin' Up stamps from the 90's. The image is from "Joys of the Season," and the sentiment is from "Everyday Expressions."

In fact, one of the "Everyday Expressions" retired stamps in this set made the June Best of 25 Years stamp set! Stampin' Up is celebrating 25 years of crafting and each month this year a new stamp set is being introduced with previously retired stamps and one never before seen new stamp. All of the "Best Of" stamp sets come in clear mount only, and are always $14.95 and available to order through March 31, 2014. I'll show them all to you at the end of this post, but remember, a new set is introduced each and every month this year! Hello all my bloggy and crafty friends.
As I write up this post, it's 3:11 in the afternoon on a Tuesday (scheduling this post to go live on the 8th) and has rained all night and all day. Do you know how hard it is not to curl up with a book on a rainy day like this? I just may have to do that after I get this post written up and scheduled to post. :)

Paper Playtime's challenge this time is TAGS!
A tag by itself, a tag on a project... hey, if there is a TAG involved, it counts!

• Pear Pizzazz cardstock used for background for photograph
• Whisper White card base cut @ 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
• Sahara Sand cut @ 4" x 5 1/4"
• Pink Pirouette cut @ 3 3/4" x 5"
• Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder used on just part of the top
• Blooming With Kindness flowers inked with Pink Pirouette and stamped on the Pink Pirouette cardstock at the bottom for a very soft custom background paper
• Basic Jewel Rhinestones added for flavor
• Sentiment from Wetlands stamp set inked with Baked Brown Sugar and stamped onto a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock. I used my Hexagon punch to flag the end. (so easy)
• Tag cut with Chalk Talk metal die set and inked around the edges with Sahara Sand ink
• Butterfly from Swallowtail stamp set and embossed onto tag
• Whisper White ribbon added to top of tag

Birdie Birthday Card

First of all, Happy Independence Day!

This card is made especially for the challenge blog, The Paper Players, who's current challenge is #152 Tic Tac Toe.

We love sitting on our front porch and watching the birds swoop down to eat the bread crumbs we toss in the yard.  So I chose to use the top row across for my card: Birds, Blue, Birthday.

• Night of Navy cardstock cut @ 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
• Background polka dot paper from Designer Series Stack - Neutrals
• Whisper White Baker's twine (this stuff is so soft - I love using it on my projects)
• Backyard Basics stamp set for Bird stamped in white
• Backyard Basics Metal Die set used to punch out birdie perfectly - love metal dies!
• Blooming with Kindness for flower and sentiment stamped in Marina Mist ink
• Bird and sentiment attached with Stampin' Dimensional

This is actually a POSTCARD instead of a card that opens and closes.  I used the metal die to punch out the bird shape (after stamping it first) and then used that same cardstock as my card base. I thought how cool would it be to have the bird shape on the back of my card as well where I write out my message? Want to see the back?

I think that's pretty cool. I can either write on the back with my white gel pen or add a white writing piece. Love it!
