I'm So Sorry

Good morning, and happy Saturday to you!  Do you have something fun planned today? I have no idea what we are going to do. The highlight of our day may be baking brownies. Mmmm...

I have to tell you a boneheaded thing I did. I was working on this tag Thursday night late. When I got up the next morning, I piddled with it some more, then went to Facebook to chat with some friends, went back to piddle with the tag, went to fix lunch, back to the tag... you get the idea. I finally decided to just go take a picture of the thing, get it posted, and be done with it already. So I grabbed the camera, picked up the tag, and I heard, "Ting, ting, ting..." Yep. The dew drops that I had NOT glued down yet went skittering and bouncing all over the table and around the floor. LOL

Family 8" x 10" Layout Page

Hi! We've made it to Friday. Aren't Fridays fun? Today I'm going to show you the first in a series of 8" x 10" Scrapbook Layout Pages. I normally use 12" x 12", but this is a special album I'm doing this year with a friend of mine. Here's our plan...

  • Each month we take a picture or two of something we did or something our family did
  • We create 2 layouts exactly alike. Put one in our scrapbook, set the other aside.
  • In December, we send the duplicate layouts that we set aside all year to each other as our Christmas gift.
  • Then we add those pages to our album.
For my first page, I cheated a little. Instead of using pictures of something we've done in January, I just chose 3 random pictures from the recent past. I wanted to give an overall feel that our family travels near and far often, and that we love having all types and kinds of adventures.  Next time I won't try to squeeze so many photos onto one page though. I would much rather have a lot more die cuts and decorating than I was able to fit on this page, but hey, I've got all year to create more pages.

I left this image rather large for uploading here. If you'd like a closer look, you can click on the image and see a much larger photo of it.

8x10 LAYOUT PAGE (1):
  • Creative Memories 8" x 10" scrapbook page base
  • Black cardstock cut to 8" x 10"
  • Green pattern paper cut to 7 3/4" x 9 3/4" (DCWV The Floral Fair Stack)
  • Photos are 4" x 6" untrimmed
  • Black cardstock photo mats cut to 4 1/8" x 6 1/8"
  • Creative Memories Circle template used to cut one of the pictures.
  • CRICUT CRAFT ROOM BASICS:
    • Circle Black cardstock mat cut @ 4 1/4"
  • 50 STATES:
    • Virginia cut @ 1/2"
    • Texas cut @ 1"
  • DOODLECHARMS:
    • Sun p. 96 cut @ 1 1/2" with shadow
    • Wave embossing folder
  • CAMPIN' CRITTERS:
    • Bear looking around tree p. 60 cut @ 3 1/4" with shadow and FLIP feature
  • EVERY DAY PAPER DOLLS:
    • Grass p. 77 cut @ 5 1/2" wide and trimmed to fit
    • Inked around the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink
  • White tag from Walmart:
    • Hand written photo descriptions
    • Inked around the edges with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint distress ink
  • Team Lewis:
    • Printed from computer using GEORGIA font
    • Black cardstock mat
  • Adhesives:
    • 2-way Glue Pen
    • Micro Glue Dots
    • ATG Photo Safe (archival)
    • Scotch Photo Splits
That's it! I know the details look like a lot, but it was easy and fun to create. Thanks for stopping by today! I'll see you again next time. And there will be another 8x10 layout page in February, plus hopefully some 12x12 scrapbook layout pages too for my other scrapbook album.

Oh... almost forgot to tell you.... I'll be doing a give away next week. No challenge involved, just a chance to win a fun crafting item by leaving a comment on that post. I'm not sure what day I will get it posted, but when you see it, be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win.

Smiles :) Janis

B is for BONNIE

Good evening my friends! I went to Joann's and Hobby Lobby today with 2 of our girls, Bonnie and Kati. We were just hanging out and messing around oooo-ing and ahhhh-ing at all the pretty house decorations at Hobby Lobby. Then we decided to get Bonnie a letter "B" for her bedroom door. Kati agreed she'd paint it for me, and I told her I wanted to put some flowers on it.

This is what we started out with... 13" Jumbo Letter B

And after Kati's painting with the flowers I added and some tulle to hang it with, we ended up with this...

I hung it on her bedroom door with a door hanger / wreath hanger thing because I didn't want to put any nails in her door.

This only cost a few dollars for the letter. I already had the paint, door hanger, flowers, brads, and it gives Bonnie such a huge smile on her face! Very much worth more than the few dollars spent on it. And big thanks to Kati for painting it for me!! In case the colors aren't showing up well in the photos, it's brown and pink. Pretty!

Thanks for stopping by today! :) Janis

Love You Friend

Happy Tuesday! Today's postcard was designed to fit the Mojo Monday Sketch #275 from last week. The challenge is already closed, but projects can be uploaded to photo galleries at any time using the TAG / KEYWORD Mojo275. So do you guys upload to photo galleries and tag your photos for Mojo Monday? I've never done that, but I'm very interested in learning how to do it. Sketches are very tough for me, so I'm trying my best to do the Mojo Monday Sketch challenges and overcome that little hurdle of mine. :)

Here is the Mojo Monday Sketch #275 from last Monday (Jan 7th):

That looks very complicated and overwhelming to me. Don't laugh. Okay, you can laugh. But it really does look HARD! So this is a BIG challenge for me. I looked at several of the entries (you ladies just WOW me!), and for some reason, seeing those made this look more of an obtainable feat.

Here's what I came up with:

I'm not real sure how much freedom we have with the sketches since I've only done a few of these challenges sporadically in the past.

CraftWork Cards: Thank you CHERRY much!

Photobucket

Hi! It's Janis from Pause Dream Enjoy
here today to show you a project using the CraftWork Cards CANDI product.

I did a GOOGLE image search for "Cricut Preserves Projects" and saw a card I knew I wanted to make. That card was posted to the Die Cuttin' Diva's blog on April 12, 2011 and says that Tammy created it. There is no link to Tammy and no blog name. I really wanted to link to her blog and give her credit for this idea, but I have not been able to find out who she is yet. If you know Tammy who was on the Design Team for Die Cuttin' Divas in April of 2011, please give me her blog name and link so I can thank  her for inspiring my card below.

Boys & Their Toys

Happy Saturday! What are you going to do today? We will probably go to the lake and see my hubby's brother's new lake house that they moved into last Thursday. I bet it's awesome to walk out of your door and sit on the dock watching the world go by. I'm thinking it won't be too long and he'll have a boat tied to that dock for summer time skiing and fishing.

Speaking of boys and their toys...

My husband is an avid outdoor adventurer. He bicycles, motorcycles, runs races (his first Marathon is in March), participates in adventure races with canoing, navigating, biking, running, climbing.... he hikes.... if it's an outdoor sport, he probably either does it, has done it, or is on his bucket list to do.

In honor of all the men (and women) in our lives who are outdoor adventurers, this card is for you. :)
