Ch# 193 World Book Day
My Design Team Project
I loved the idea of this cut file, but didn't like how the pieces fit together.
So I did a little customizing.
Instead of cutting out the thin borders to represent the book cover
(I hate tiny or thin pieces), I welded a rectangle to the book cover frame
and made it one solid piece. Then I cut strips of white paper, rounded the corners
on one side, and adhered the pages on top of the binder color.
Much easier to work with as far as paper piecing.
I also thought the background was a little boring.
To liven that up a bit, I sliced the card base down the fold line.
Took the front of the card and created 2 internal shadows.
One for the inside to write your message which I cut out in white.
And one for the outside which I cut out in pattern paper.
One last upgrade... the pages were boring.
I decided to add some fun words here to represent the
kind of books someone may be reading.
I typed in some words with different fonts,
squished the letters together until they overlapped a little,
and welded that so the entire word would cut out as one piece.
Tada! I'm very happy with the results.
