Be Brave

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE QUEEN'S MOTHER GOOSE BLOG HOP, CLICK HERE.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE GETTING CRICKY THANK-FALL BLOG HOP, CLICK HERE.

A friend of ours had to put down her kitty last week. She was sick and old and the vet said it was time to let her go. Our friend is so saddened by the loss of her kitty. I remember how bad that can feel. I'm sad for my friend. But I want her to also BE BRAVE and hang on. Getting another kitty will never replace the friend she had, but you can learn to love another friend. And they can make your days brighter.  So I made this card for her.

Kraft card base A2 size.
FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS cart used for Cat1 cut @ 3 1/2"
Keypad overlay Row 1, Column 1

Background papers from K&Co. Berry Sweet
Solid papers from ColorBox textured pad (from Walmart)
Prima Flowers
Green Dew Drop
GLUE DOTS used to adhere flowers & Dew drop
Xyron used to adhere all the kitty pieces
K ANDREW DESIGNS stamp set WINGED THINGS for BRAVE stamp

Now... I'm just going to say this.. put it right out there.... ProvoCraft really could have done a much better job with the cartridge cover and insert leaflet for FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS. I mean really. Come on. Who do I need to speak to at ProvoCraft regarding positive, effective marketing? What's with the dull colors for this cart's cover art? It's depressing. Just my opinion. Everybody has one.   Deep breath.....

So... that's it for today! Who's crafting this weekend? Send me a link in the comment section to what you've been working on. I'd love to come take a looksie! I love all your comments & questions. Please remember if you leave me a question in the comment section, to also leave me your email address so I can get back to you. You guys ROCK!

Smiles! :) Janis

Mother Goose Blog Hop!

Welcome to our Mother Goose Blog Hop!
You should have hopped here from
If not, start at the beginning. Here is a list of everyone on the hop!

Isn't everyone's projects amazing so far? Keep hoping, because there is lots more to see!
For my project I made a card. Yep. A card. I was going to make a flip book, but it just wasn't coming together how I wanted it. And since I love making cards, I just went with that.

I chose THE COW JUMPED OVER THE  MOON for my rhyme. I love poetry. And this particular Mother Goose rhyme is always the first poem I think of when I hear Mother Goose. It's just silly. Makes no sense. My kind of dream.

BIRTHDAY BASH Cricut cartridge:
Cow p. 70 cut @ 2". Keypad overlay Row 5, Column 10.

CAMPIN' CRITTERS Cricut cartridge:
Moon p. 39 cut @ 3 1/2". Keypad overlay Row 2, Column 9.

Here's the inside...

I just typed up the Mother Goose Nursery rhyme in my PrintMaster program and used a DJ Inkers Tag to print it on.  The rhyme reads:

Hey diddle diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

Tom has been riding his bicycle to work this week. This morning he said he rode all the way to work in a very light snow. Awesome! It's funny because he had just said last night that he needs to put his snow tires on his bicycle this weekend. The puddles are frozen.  It's pitch black outside right now at 10 til 8 in the morning here. Sunrise isn't for a while now. I could see a very light falling snow looking through the beam of light from the driveway lighting. I love it! I hope it turns to pouring snow showers!!

I was in the mood to use my 3 BIRDS ON PARADE Cricut cartridge today. I just love all the Birdies on this cart!!

My friend, Maria of JOYFUL STAMPER, makes the prettiest cards! Sometimes she makes them very Clean & Simply. I wanted to try my hand at that. I'm not real happy with how this turned out, but hey, I tried something new and different. Just exploring.

Crocheted Grandbaby Blanket for Wyatt

Who else out there loves to crochet like me?
I don't do crochet often, but I should spend more time doing it. It's so relaxing.
I'm very thankful for my sister, Melody, who taught me how to crochet. I just could not figure things out just by reading a book. When I had questions, the book would not respond. Go figure. LOL  But Melody sat with me, unknotted my knots, helped me figure out the counting and looping, etc. What a blessing!  I am a very simple crochet-er. The most elaborate project I've made is a baby hat and I swore I'd never do that again it was so difficult. I like to stick to baby blankets, afghans, couch throws, etc.  Now my sister, she can do all sorts of amazing crochet things like making vests. WOW.  My mother-in-law made a bedspread... WOW.  My hubby's grandma made angels and dolls... WOW.  I'll never be that kind of crochet-er. But I'm tickled with what I can do. I'm thrilled, actually.

Here is the latest blanket I've made for our grandbaby, Wyatt.  Brown is the base color;
yellow is in there because it's my husband and son's favorite color;
green is in there because it's my daughter-in-law's favorite color;
and the blue and variegated blue are just for Wyatt.

Project #277 in 2011
Here's another look at the blanket with some yarn on the couch... Yep, I'm working on a scarf right now with bright colors.

If any of you guys crochet, PLEASE leave me a link to your blog. I'd love to see what you are working on.  Plus I love finding new, easy, free patterns too.

Hugs! Have a fun weekend! :) Janis

Happy Birthday, Tom!

Hello all my crafty friends!  Before I show you the card I made today, I want to say a big, fat HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my hubby, Tom! I love you, Tom!

I made Tom a very simple birthday card. No ribbon. No flowers. No buttons - gasp!
I like it!

CAMPIN' CRITTERS snowy mountain scene page 63 cut @ 3 1/2". Keypad overlay Row 5, Column 3.
I think this scene is perfect for where we live!
Card base is cardstock from Recollections.
Background paper is from K&Co.
I <3 You stamp from 2 different stamps sets.
The I and heart are from K Andrew Designs Fashionable Friends. It's part of the I love my Visa stamp. I just snipped the stamp in 2 after the heart. Don't panic. It's okay to cut your stamps. They still work perfectly. Here is a picture of all the stamps in this set....

The YOU stamp is from K Andrew Designs Winter Wishes set. Here's a picture of everything in that awesome set....

I hope you all have a very fun day and a great weekend! If it's your  birthday today too, then HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Smiles! :) Janis

Creepy Crawlies....

#269
Eeek! Creepy Crawlies on my card!  But they are happy little spiders, so I guess that makes it okay.... even though spiders give me the creeps!

My card today is made from KRAFT cardstock. A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"). I used glittered, dripping goo paper from K&Co. I got last year. The gorgeous ribbon is from Stampin' Up. Itty Bitty paper clip is from blog candy I won last year. This is the only one of these little guys I have. I love it. I think I'll have to find some more of these. Spiders are cut @ 2 1/2" from PAPER DOLL DRESS UP page 49. Keypad overlay Row 3, Column 1. I did NOT use Real Dial Size for the spiders, so it cut them in proportion as if my doll was 2 1/2".  This was actually a mistake. I was going to cut 1 spider at Real Dial Size 2 1/2" and only use the one spider.... but hey, there are no mistakes in ART, right? So I just went with it. I love how it turned out. The layout is from a card idea I saw in the Paper Crafts magazine.

Stay away from the Creepy Crawlies this month!
Boo!  :) Janis

You're Just Fun Fun Fun

#250
Good morning! I think you all are just FUN FUN FUN!  :)
Remember the card I showed you last week using this same cut image from the ROBOTZ Cricut cartridge?  No?  Here's a reminder....

I just wanted to show that the same image can be used to make more than one kind of card.  This image was cut @ 3" from page 28 of the ROBOTZ Cricut cartridge. Keypad overlay Row 1, Column 1.  Instead of googlie eyes, I added yellow rhinestones.  The star brad was included in the My Mind's Eye Robotz paper kit along with some ribbon, tons of double-sided paper, chipboard die-cuts and paper die-cuts. Great paper kit!

The sentiment stamp is 2 different stamps from K Andrew Designs' "Coffee & Tea For You & Me" stamp set. I just ended up stamping the word "Fun" 3 times.  Here's a close-up of the sentiment....

And here's all of the stamps in this set.  It's a mix 'n' match set which are always a HOOT to play around with.

I hope you enjoyed your September.  Fall has just begun and now October begins.  I love October. It's my favorite month of the whole year.  It's also usually when it begins to snow here in Anchorage, Alaska.  I'm predicting it will snow the first time around my husband's birthday which is the 14th. Of course, I really have no idea, but I am wishing it will start snowing very soon! We love the SNOW!!
Pumpkin kisses to you all! :) Janis
