Hello, Sunshine!

I am so honored to be a GUEST DESIGNER for Dawn's Crafting For All Seasons Challenge Blog today! Yeah! Thanks, Dawn! For Ch#21, Dawn has asked us to make shaped cards (not square or rectangle). This truly was a bit of a challenge for me. I don't use a Gypsy or other software, so I'm limited to the cartridges I have that have the card feature on them. I chose to make a SUNSHINE card using the HELLO KITTY GREETINGS cartridge.

Project #59 of this year
Pretty & sparkly, huh?
The sunshine card was cut from HELLO KITTY GREETINGS p. 36 cut @ 4". I also cut the sunshine again with the blackout feature @ 3 1/2" for the inside of the card to write my sentiment on.

I used the Cuttlebug folder Divine Swirl for the dry embossing on the outside.
Stickles "Crystal" was added to the swirls as well as some tan colored inking to give them a little more dimension. I hope the person who receives this card will smile from ear to ear. :)
Hop over to Crafting For All Seasons and play along in this challenge with us! We want to see your shaped cards too! :) Janis

Smile, My Friend!

WARNING! This is a picture heavy post. :)

Last year (wow, that sounds so long ago), one of my best friends asked me to send her a picture of my family to her for her birthday. She even mailed me a little acrylic frame to put it in. Well, the frame broke during shipping, and I've been trying to think of something better to send her than just one picture. It's taken me this long to have just the right idea to inspire me. I'm hoping she forgot about the request so that when she receives my surprise package in the mail, she will be happy! Don't you think surprises are fun?! I love surprises!!

I decided to make her a mini album.

See, my friend is handicap and has limited movement. She doesn't travel far from home and loves to watch our travels from South Carolina to Georgia to Texas to Alaska and everywhere in-between. She says she feels like she's right there with us. And every time we pass the "WELCOME TO MISSISSIPPI" sign, we have to snap a picture and post it on Facebook for her. I guess you could say it's sort of a private joke. I can't even remember how many times we've passed through Mississippi on our travels.

Here are lots of pictures and the journaling I made for her mini album. I know the pictures are not the greatest quality, but I used my scanner instead of the camera. I tried taking pictures with the camera, but the lighting wasn't right and it wouldn't focus or stay open to the right page, etc.  Try to look beyond the quality of the photos, and feel the love that went into this.

Some things you need to know before looking at the pictures....
COVER:
  1. CREATE A CRITTER Sunshine cut @ 3/4".
  2. HELLO KITTY GREETINGS Strawberry cut @ 2" and 2 1/2".
  3. PLANTIN SCHOOL BOOK Grass cut @ 1 1/2" and trimmed to fit width.
  4. Pictures are all inserted into a horizontal badge pocket (got at Walmart). There is also some pattern cardstock between the front and back photo in each badge.
  5. Cropadile used for hole punching.
  6. 1" binding rings from Office Depot.
  7. Covers 4 1/8" x 3 5/8". Three pieces of cardstock with pattern paper adhered all together for thicker front and back covers.
  8. Pages in-between photos are gray cardstock cut @ 3 3/4" x 3 3/8".
  9. Sentiment stamps on front cover by Mary's CARDZ TV STAMPS "Encouraging Thoughts" set.

Here's the mini album pages and journaling...

I love the thickness and sturdiness of this mini album book! The cardstock and thick laminate badge holders just add to how sturdy this is.

My custom stamp on the back (MY FAVORITE STAMP IN THE WHOLE WORLD) is from PSA Essentials.com. Check them out!

Have a happy day, everyone! Thank you so much for stopping by.

What Can I Say?....

This card makes me giggle!

Project #58 of this year
This is my card for Paper Playtime's new challenge that started today. Since it's the 3rd Monday of the month, that means whatever theme Paper Playtime has this time, you have to ADD A SENTIMENT too. And this week's challenge for SAY IT WITH SENTIMENTS is PETS (any animal). That's right. Make any project with a pet or any other animal. Let's see what you can do with the creatures this time!

Here are all the details on my card:
A2 size card (5 1/2" x 4 1/4").
Gray cardstock for base.
Blue background paper cut @ 5 1/4" x 4".
Glitter paw print heart background (DCWV) cut @
5" x 3 3/4".
Sentiment from Mr. Cricut Crazy's "Man's Best Friend Vol. 1" set.
You can shop his stamps HERE.

Sentiment mat is from my new Journal punch from Joann's!

Grass is Fiskar's punch from Target.

Antiqued brads on basket are from Joann's.
DOODLECHARMS for Dog p. 112 cut @ 2".
I cut out the ears 3 times. Once for the actual ears, and twice for the legs with color patches hanging out of the basket top.

Basket was also cut from DOODLECHARMS
p. 116 @ 2 1/2".

Aqua tulle from Amazon (fabric.com).
This tulle stuff is GORGEOUS!  (and addictive LOL)
That's it. I did some simple chalking around the basket and doggie. Some inking around the sentiment mat. The only other thing about this card that I have not mentioned yet.... well... I.... um.... adhered the cover upside down! LOL Oh well. I'm NOT going to change it. Whoever gets it in the mail will get a good laugh having to open it from the top instead of the bottom.
I hope you'll come play along with us at PAPER PLAYTIME! Let's see your PET (or any animal) projects! It can be any type of project as long as you remember to add a SENTIMENT to it.
Smiles!
:) Janis

52 Tags Challenge #7

It's FRIDAY! That means it's time for a brand new theme or question for our new tag challenge!

Tag Ch#7 (Week 7):
Create a tag with the theme of the last movie you saw.
On the back write who you watched the movie with, if you liked it, what it was about. (Years from now, I promise, your kids will find this very interesting and funny.) If you went out to the movies, be sure to include how much the movie tickets cost. (Again, this will sound so cheap years from now).

Project #56 of this year
Our family loves to watch movies. We watch a movie several times a week. I thought I would try to keep a list of movies we watch in 2012, but I'm already so far behind, I don't know if I can go back and remember them all.

The last movie we watched that we really, really liked was REAL STEEL.

IMDB (my hubbub's favorite movie site) rates this movie 7.2 stars out of 10.  I rate movies on a 5 star scale, and this one gets 5 out of 5 stars for me.  We actually ordered this movie through pay-per-view on Directv and liked it so much we bought it the next time we went to Best Buy. (We used our Reward Points so we actually got it for FREE!)

I know the Ch#7 says to use the "last movie you saw", and this wasn't actually the last one, but it was my favorite of the last ones we've seen recently.

Here's the back of my tag.

Thank you all so much for playing along. Remember you can enter a tag for any week at any time during the year, so don't ever feel like it's too late to jump in and start playing with us.  Big thanks to everyone that's been submitting tags so far this year! BIG, BIG HUGS!

Here's all the details about this tag:
Tag cut using ELEGANT EDGES "Swirl 2" on page 39 cut @ 4 1/2" using the Oblong and Shadow features.

Background paper from Recollections "All Girl" stack.

ROBOTZ Cricut cartridge for Robot2 p. 29 cut @ 3 1/2" with Shadow feature.

Letter stickers on the back of the tag are from Creative Memories.
Tools and Star stickers are from Mrs. Grossman's.
Everything adhered with either ATG or Glue Dots!
Buttons from Joann's.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
I can't wait to see your movie tag and hear what you watched last.
Have a great day!
:) Janis
