Z-Fold Cards

Whoooooo's ready for another Paper Playtime challenge?!!

Our Challenge #48 is to make a Z-Fold card.  Z-Fold cards are very easy to create. Just fold your card like you normally would, then fold the front cover back onto itself.  Voila! 'Tis created.

I made 6 of these Cherry Z-Fold cards.  I love them!

HELLO KITTY GREETINGS

Cherries page 31 cut @ 3 1/2"

I cheated a little bit and used the Blackout feature to cut the main cherry image in White.  These white cherries were cut smaller than the size I'll put on the front just so it would cover the see-through holes on the cherry, but not stick out around the edges.  They were cut @ 2".  

I then cut the stem away from the cherries and cut the 2 cherries apart.  I used this white piece to adhere to the back of the cherries so the white would show through.  The handbook shows you cutting very tiny pink oval pieces for the highlighted areas on the cherries.  Those of you who know me know that I HATE tiny pieces. LOL

Solid papers & Card base from Recollections

Card base is 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock cut in half @ 4 1/4"

Each card is then scored @ 5 1/2" for middle fold & 2 3/4" for Z Fold front

Pattern papers are from the Recollections stack "ALL GIRL".

Cut 1 large Green mat @ 5 1/4" x 4"

Cut 1 large Black mat @ 5" x 3 3/4"

Cut 1 large Cherry mat @ 4 3/4" x 3 1/2"

All of these large mats are for the inside of the card.

These are for the outside Z and the next panel that shows when card is open.

LACY LABELS

"Family" label was cut @ 2" including Shadow feature.

The "Family" label on the keypad overlay is Row 3, Column 2.

BONNIE GETS MAIL!

As many of you know, our daughter, Bonnie, has special needs. She can recognize her written name and LOVES getting mail.  If you FOLLOW my blog you'll remember a while back I posted about the library saying Bonnie was to old to participate in the Summer 'READ TO ME' program.  They may not have realized that Bonnie has special needs and can't read although she does love books.  That's okay. I had posted that I was going to make our own Summer Reading Chart and prize schedule.

A sweet friend of mine, Ruthie, of SEPTEMBER NINTH, saw the post and had mentioned it to her SIL, Cynthia, of SCRAPS & SCARVES.  They asked if they could send Bonnie some stickers for her Summer Reading Chart.  Of course I said we'd love that.  Ruthie was sure to address the envelope to BONNIE.

Well, the stickers arrived today and Bonnie loved opening the envelope.  She said, "What's that?"  I explained they were stickers for her chart.  I don't think she knows what I'm talking about yet, but when I get it made, and she can see it, she'll understand then.

Ruthie also included this ADORABLE card!  Here's a picture of it.  You may not be able to tell from the photo, but the glasses the little girl is wearing has a puffy see-through something on them, so they really do look like lenses.  Ruthie even drew on some reflective white lines.  I swear, that girl is so talented. She thinks of all the tiniest details that make all her projects so amazing.

This & That

Hello all my bloggy friends!  We have officially moved from Texas to South Carolina.  We've been here a couple weeks, but still living out of boxes. This house is a project. The drywall isn't finished getting mudded and sanded yet, so only 2 rooms are actually painted. My hubby, Tom, is working hard on building me some kitchen cabinets. I love that he can do stuff like that. It's going to be gorgeous when we are through, but it sure would be nice to have closet shelving and rods to hang clothes on.... Oh well.... maybe soon.

My Cricut is still packed.  I've been enjoying crocheting. I've completed 2 baby blankets, 2 sofa blankets, and 2 runners for the piano or coffee table, etc. I'm working on a 3rd baby blanket right now.  Crocheting is so very relaxing.

Our son, James, got married on Sunday!  Welcome to the family, Nhi!

Bonnie & I went to the library today. She picked out 12 books from the children's section. She LOVES going to the library.  I asked the librarian if Bonnie could participate in the summer Read To Me program, but she said Bonnie was too old.  I just smiled and said okay, but inside I was hurt and surprised.  Technically, Bonnie is too old.  She's 17.  But she also has special needs and her mentality is like a toddler. She can't read or say a lot of words, but she loves looking at books and pointing to stuff like flowers, animals, planes, etc.  I decided we'd just make our own summer reading chart with goals and prizes.  I'll make something on the computer and post it on the frig.  It will be fun!  Bltzzzz to the library lady.

She's so cute.  She'd pick up a book, bring it to the table, set it down, and then pat it.  I swear she's the happiest child in the world.  Yesterday, she wasn't feeling too good.  She didn't eat a big breakfast or hardly any lunch and didn't want supper at all.  Poor darling was hot with a fever, but I couldn't find the thermometer in all the packed boxes.  Talk about looking for a needle in a haystack!  I put my nightgown on her and wiped her with a cool, wet washcloth.  She loved the washcloth on her face.  I couldn't sleep well last night because I was so worried about her. I kept having weird dreams and then waking up and praying for her all night.  This morning, her fever was gone, and she's acting like herself again.  Don't know what that was about yesterday, but glad it's GONE!

Have fun this week!  I hope to start unpacking my crafting goodies and getting my craft room organized this week.

I cut 2 squares @ 1" and then diagonal cut them for the corner matting of the image.

Black mat was cut @ 8 3/4" x 3 3/4".

Green heart mat was cut @ 8 1/2" x 3 1/2".

All solid papers are from Recollections, and the green heart background paper is from Recollections ALL GIRL stack.

This next card was made also using Ai Factory images digitally colored by KATI LEWIS.com

This card is 6" x 12" and scored @ 6".

Card #151

Card base and striped background papers are both from K & Company Simply Sweet Stack.

The Pink strips were cut @ 2 1/2" x 6" and 1 1/2" x 6".

The "U and Me" sentiment was handwritten.

For my next card, I used  a digi image from Bugaboo Stamps, who is also one of our many sponsors this Challenge for Digi Monday @ Paper Playtime.

Card #152

I hand wrote "You & Me" for the sentiment with an Ultra Fine Tip black Sharpie.

I used Blue matting paper from Recollections which matched this ribbon perfectly.

The button has some black splattered in it, and it's from Bag of Buttons from Hobby Lobby.

The black and white pattern papers are from a friend, so I'm not sure which paper stack they came from, but most likely they are from a DCWV stack.

For my project, I made a TALL card. Yes, I think May has been my Official TALL CARD MONTH. LOL

Tall cards are 9" x 8" and scored @ 4".

Solid papers are from Recollections and *Stampin' Up.

The card base, brads, {, and "nuts and bolts" are all from *My Mind's Eye Lil' Robots Collection that has double-sided paper, ribbon, brads, chipboard, diecuts, etc in it.

Robot 18 is cut from ROBOTZ page 45 @ 4" and adhered with Pop Dots for dimension.

The key charm is from Lost & Found Charms collection.

New, Bright Crocheted Baby Blanket with Pom Pom Edging

Here's a new baby blanket I made yesterday with very bright colors.

I love the way it turned out!

I found this PomPom yarn - first time I've seen anything like this. I crocheted this all around the edges. So soft and pretty!

Once again, I used the same pattern from this cool crochet book I got at Joann's.  I just made the blanket a little smaller for a BABY size.

Hmmmm.... wonder what I'll crochet today?  Make a bookmark?

Crocheted Baby Blankets

Doesn't this pile of yarn look like yummy fun?!

We are moving next week from Texas back to South Carolina.

I've got all my Cricut and fun paper toys all packed up, 

but not my yarn and crochet hooks!

I'm currently working on 2 projects.

This first project is a crib blanket for our next grandbaby which is expected this September.  I'm using our son's favorite color, yellow, and Nhi's (pronouce "knee") favorite color, green.  I added in some black for a neutral color.

This other project is just for fun. It's going to be a sofa blanket using all these fun colors. Love these colors!

Not finished with either project yet, but you get the idea.

Both patterns came from this book I got at Joann's.

What I really like about this book, is 1) all the pages and photos are in full color and 2) all the patterns tell you the repeat math. In other words, instead of telling you row by row how to make an entire blanket the size they determined beforehand, it tells you the repeat pattern number.  So the very colorful blanket I'm making is a repeat pattern of 17.  For my beginning chain, I crochet 17 times and then another 17 and then another until I get the size of the blanket I want. Then I start the 2nd row with the pattern instructions.  Some of the patterns will say a repeat pattern of 21+5 or 11+7, etc.  I love that!
