My next card is made using a card base of creamy green from a Value Pack.

Spring Card!

Have you guys seen Mary's challenge over at CARDZ TV?  She is challenging us to make a card ALL ABOUT SPRING.  She will use Random.org to choose a winner who will receive APRIL SHOWERS!  Oh how I'd love to have that cart!!!  Here's the card I created...

Card #32

I actually made this card twice - once with the CRICUT DESIGN STUDIO (first project using that!), and once without it.  For all of you Cricut Design Studio users, how in the world do you print layers for the cuts and have it be the correct proportional size?  I had my default size at 3 1/2".  I clicked on the rabbit.  Then hit shift and clicked on the rabbit tail and ear and both were the default size instead of the proportional size.  HELP!

Card base is Light Blue cardstock (all papers are from Recollections).
Sun is from GIVE A HOOT cut @ 2" (sorry, don't remember which page it's on - I grabbed it from my cut stash).
Trees and grass are 1 cut from CRICUT SAMPLER p. 53 cut @ 4".  I had to trim off the width just a tad.
Rabbit also from CRICUT SAMPLER p. 50 cut @ 3 1/2" and used pop dots to give it some dimension.
Everything was chalked in with Stampin' Up chalks.

Cricut Design Studio & Other Ramblings

I am so excited!  Okay, so when do I not get excited about every little thing?  I just got in the CRICUT DESIGN STUDIO this week.  I've barely had time to play with it due to the couple of days I was sick and didn't make it out of bed or off the couch for anything other than necessities.  Does anyone else have this?  I've read through the "manual" that came with it.  Sounds pretty straight forward.  But it didn't answer things like...


"How do you hide cuts?"  Example - I want to use my Peachy Keen Face stamps on a project. How do I tell it not to cut the eyes and mouth on CDS?


Does anyone have a great resource of "how to's" for this they can point me to?


I'm so happy to have this.  I can't wait to figure it all out.

In Other News...


I made the cutest bookmarks this week.  I can't wait to show them to you, but I can't yet.  They are for a challenge blog I'm on the Design Team for and you'll have to wait until a little later to see them.  They were so cute I made 7 of them. LOL  Anybody want one?  If you leave me a comment saying you'd love to have one and a way to contact you for your USA shipping address, you just might get surprised with one in the mail. :)  See, now all the others who haven't read down this far have no idea they could get a free bookmark from me.  Aren't you the lucky one?  :)

This is our daughter, Bonnie.  She thought it would be fun to wrap herself in Bubble Wrap the other day.  I guess she's ready to be shipped.  LOL  Wonder where she wants to go?  Let's ask her.  She said, "Ummmm, KATI!"  That's one of her older sisters.  Bonnie is so cute.  She will be 17 this April.  WOW how the time has flown! She's so precious.  She's our special needs darling.  Always smiling.  Always happy.  Here's another funny story for you about Bonnie....

Bonnie & I went to the library Tuesday.  We always do the self-checkout, but then she has to stop at the librarian desk and say hi to the librarian - because Bonnie's friendly like that.  So we are walking toward the door to leave the library, and Bonnie stops at the librarian desk and puts her foot up on the desk and says, "Shoes!"  Yes, she got new tennis shoes.  The librarian smiles and says, "I like your new shoes."  Bonnie feels so proud.  We leave there and go to Michael's.  Standing in line at Michael's waiting for the next available cashier, Bonnie starts talking to the 2 women in line behind us.  Because Bonnie is friendly like that.  She points at her feet and says, "Shoes!"  She points at me and says, "Mom Mom.  Shoes."  Of course the 2 ladies tell her how pretty her new shoes are.

I hope you guys have a fun weekend.  Be healthy.  Have fun.  Laugh and Smile as much as possible.  And here's a challenge for you if you choose to accept it.  Write a letter.  Yes, HAND write a letter to one person who means a lot to you.  Tell them that.  Put it in an envelope, stick a stamp on it, and mail it.  That letter will really brighten someone's day.  There's just something about a handwritten letter.  So personal.  Yes, I did that yesterday and mailed it.  One of my New Year Resolutions was to write letters to those in my life who have inspired me, encouraged me, loved me, made me feel special, etc.  I'm in no hurry to write these letters all at once.  Just every now and then as I'm thinking about someone, I'll write them and mail it.  Wouldn't you love to receive a letter like that?  I think we all would.  Make someone's day.  Send a smile and some love via US Postal Service.

Flaunt It Fridays Ch# 18 - FOREVER YOUNG

Hello all my bloggy friends!

This week over at FLAUNT IT FRIDAYS

we are asked to FLAUNT the MODEL 1 EMBLEM (SILHOUETTE) on page 24.

I think this is a beautiful cut, but didn't know what to do with it.

A friend of mine, Sheree (check out here blog by CLICKING HERE), suggested I use it on a tag with a smokey background. She also taught me how to make a smokey background with inks. It's really easy; all you do is use a sponge dabbed on any ink pad and use circular motions to apply the ink to the cardstock. You will find that some of the places are darker (more inked) than others, and that's how the smokey affect is born. Voila! Easy peasey.

• Flowers and glass bubbles (not rhinestones) from a BLOG CANDY I won last year

Just for fun, I made a handful of lavender cards.  Why?  Because purple is my favorite color AND I'm trying to re-stock my card stash.

All of these cards are A2 size (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") using cardbase lavender from Recollections papers.
All background mats from K & Company The Best of Brenda Walton cut @ 4" x 5 1/4".
Ribbon from $1 bin @ Michael's.
Prima flowers and Recollections brads.
Sentiments also from the same paper stack.
Everything inked with Colorbox inks.

Here is my card above.  I thought it just needed a little something more, so I added some PRIMA flowers and RHINESTONES to the flower centers:

I used this card for a BLOG CANDY WINNER in January.  Of course, I didn't notice until I went to create this post that one of the flowers is folded over in the picture above from sitting inside my scanner.  LOL  Oh well.  You get the picture.

Here's the inside:

I used a black Sharpie to write my http address on the green strip at the top, and wrote my message to the winner on the green paper on the bottom.  I think it turned out pretty good.  I love using Kraft cardstock for card bases.

DESIGNER CALENDAR FUN!

I have a friend in the Cricut Circle who had enough Reward Points to get DESIGNER CALENDAR for free, and she didn't want it.  So she ordered it and had them ship it directly to me.  I offered to pay for the shipping (and mailed it immediately) so it truly wouldn't cost her anything.  It came in the mail yesterday!  I had been tracking it on line and knew FedEx would be coming.  So when the doorbell rang, I yelled, "FedEx is here!"  I opened the box and showed my hubby and said, "Look!  My new cart!"  He answered, "You're so weird."  LOL I get so excited about crafting stuff.

We have a countdown magnet calendar on the frig.  I got a magnet roll from Michael's and my hubby, Tom, sat there and wrote with a white paint pen numbers for the days and the month names.  He had it all on the frig lined up but without a grid.  Each day our daughter, Bonnie, takes down the day before so we can see how many days left until we move back to Alaska.  It's a lot of fun.


The first thing I did when my DESIGNER'S CALENDAR came in was to make a grid for the frig to put the magnet days in.  I'm very pleased with how easy and fast it was to do this.  This cart is spectacular.


Here is the BEFORE and AFTER pictures:

The grid was cut with Recollections red paper @ 5".  The pink background and green icon cuts are also Recollections paper.  The icon shapes on some of the days were cut @ 1".

The bridge on the frig is from DESTINATIONS, and the lizard is from LIFE IS A BEACH.  The paper frame magnet picture of me and Tom is my favorite picture I have of us.  It's us in Alaska last year.  My sweet friend, Mary of CARDZ TV, printed that picture of us and made that frame herself.  I feel and see all the love she put into that project.  She mailed it to me in December as a surprise.  I had no idea it was coming.  I almost cried when I opened it.  I LOVE SURPRISES!  And I LOVE getting mail!!

Have a restful Sunday.  We are going to the park later to enjoy this low 70's weather, and then to the mall to get Bonnie some more LEGOS.

Yesterday I made a set of Valentine cards.  I didn't use my Cricut on these.  I love my Cricut, but I had some really cool paper and embellishments that I thought would work well together without any Cricut cuts.

All the Card bases are green from Recollections.
All the pink solid papers (both shades) are also from Recollections.

The background pattern papers and all the sentiment papers are from K & Company the Best of Brenda Walton.
Lace is from scraps.
Recollections Hearts Border punch used.
All stickers and 3-D embellishments from Marcella by K & Company

Flaunt it Fridays CH# 11 & BLOG HOP!

I challenged myself this year to make all type of different crafting projects, not just cards.  Although I will say,  I LOVE MAKING CARDS!!

I decided to make our Bonnie a door sign for her room.

I cut out both Raggedy Ann and Andy at 4 1/2" using papers from Recollections.

The background paper is from Recollections ALL GIRL stack.

And their faces are PEACHIFIED! 

Peachy Keen Stamps PK-531 Simple Sallies Face Assortment.

The ribbon is actually left over from my Christmas ribbons.  It's pink and pretty, so who cares that it has snowflakes on it?

For my 2nd project for the HOP, 

we were asked to make a project using any other cut from the same PAPER DOLL DRESS UP cartridge.

I used the FENCE on page 78 for my 2nd PAPER DOLL DRESS UP project CUT @ 2" and trimmed to fit on the front of the card.

The owls are 3-D embellies from stash.

The FRAME for he 3-D sentiment sticker is from LACY LABELS "Berries" label cut @ 1 3/4".

The 3-D sentiment "Have a story to tell" is from stash.

The fence and card are all chalked around the edges with Stampin Up chalks.

Card base is Buff from Value Pack.

Edges of card rounded with Fiskars Corner Rounder.
