Inspiration Wednesday (Isaiah 53:5)

As I write this (Tuesday evening), my newest grandson of just 3 months old is at the Emergency Room over 4,000 miles away. Our daughter called to say he had started a slight cough on Monday, and it has worsened a little today (Tuesday). She said he even got a little choked and stopped breathing briefly when he was coughing as if something loose was being moved around in there.

I said, "What did you do?"

She said, "I went into panic mode." He started breathing again, but she decided to take him to the ER to get examined.

No parent wants their child to be sick, or hurt, or to endure any type of pain. I know I certainly don't want that.

We have to watch what our special needs child (okay, she's an adult now, but still my baby) eats and drinks. She gets to coughing now and then when she slightly chokes on what she's eating or drinking. Sometimes, it's more than slightly. I also go into panic mode.

As a parent, I would much rather have her hurts, her pains, and her sickness. I would much rather be the one choking. I hate it when she's sick and throwing up, has a fever, or doesn't feel good. I hate it when she gets choked up and it takes a while for her to breathe easily again.

As I was praying for Erik a little while ago while cooking dinner, I was telling God how I understood Keri going into panic mode. I do that. We don't want our children to suffer. As God is so good about doing, He stops my prayer thoughts, and whispers a lesson to me. (Don't you love it when He does that?!)

That's how much I love My children too.  Jesus paid the price for all My children so they wouldn't have to.

Just like that. Making my "real" life apply to Scripture.

I'm no writer. I'm not eloquent with my words. You would think with as many books I read, my vocabulary would be so much better than it is. However, I did want to share this with you even if it's not as graceful as something you'd read by Beth Moore, Rick Warren, Tony Evans, Kay Arthur, Joyce Meyers, etc.

Are you hurting? Are your children or grandchildren getting the Flu? Don't you hate it when they are sick? Don't you wish you could be the one sick instead?

Jesus knows how you feel. He paid our price. All we have to do, is acknowledge that and embrace it.

But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
