I am having a Design Team call at one of my challenge blogs, Paper Playtime!! Woo-Hoo!

No previous DT experience is required.

I encourage new crafters as well as experienced crafters to apply.

Things you may want to know:
  1. You must have an active blog and be a member of Facebook.
  2. You can create with any type of medium... die cuts, SVGs, Cricut, Cameo, Eclipse, Spellbinders, digis, stamping, etc.
  3. Challenges post every other Monday.  DT is split into 2 groups who post every other challenge (about once a month).
  4. DT is required to comment on 1/10th of the projects submitted.
  5. Challenge themes are given for the entire 2013 year in advance so you can work ahead as much as you'd like.
  6. DT submits their project to the challenge album in our private Facebook group. Deadline for projects to be submitted by DT is NOON EST on Thursdays before the new challenge starts the following Monday.  Late projects will not be added to the scheduled post.
  7. DT term is for 3 months: April, May, and June. However, once the new DT is announced, you are welcome to go ahead and jump in as a new DT member if that fits your schedule.  DT is given 2 "skips" per term. If your project is late and or missing more than 2 times, we respectfully ask you to step down for the remainder of the DT term and invite you to re-apply during our next DT Call.

10 months to Christmas Blog Hop

We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board Video Tutorial...HERE

Happy Monday! Did you know that today is the 25th? That means only 10 more months until Christmas. Are you counting down yet?  I am so honored to be asked to be a Guest Designer for this month's blog hop my friend, Heather, does each month with our Countdown to Christmas.  The theme for February's hop is to use Red, White and One other color. Now I have to admit. One of the cards I made had an additional color sneak in there and I didn't even realize it until it was time to get this post set up. So please forgive me. I'm the new girl. :)
 Here's my first card:

  • A2 size card 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
  • Background "snow" paper from Recollections "Bright and Basic" 180 stack.
  • Washi tape used instead of ribbon
  • CRICUT ALPHABET:
    • Present p. 43 cut @ 4"
    • Green present embossed using "Kassie's Brocade" Cuttlebug folder
    • Ribbon embossed using "Swiss Dots" Cuttlebug folder and then inked with Studio G white ink
    • Tag on present from Stampin Up Window Punch and inked around the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye distress ink
  • Cardz TV Stamps:
    • "Tiny Tidings" stamp set used for tag sentiment and inked with Memento Tuxedo Black ink
  • Present adhered with foam tape for dimension
Here's my second card:
  • A2 size card 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"
  • Background cloud paper from my friend, Sharon. I have no idea the name of it.
  • I hand cut the bottom for the snowy ground at an angle and inked around the edges with Colorbox Sky Blue ink
  • The snowflakes and village houses are all stickers from the Echo Park "Jolly & Bright" Collection pack. (I love Echo Park and their Collection Packs.)
  • Cardz TV Stamps:
    • "Tiny Tidings" stamp set used for tag sentiment and inked with Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Thanks for stopping by today! I'm last on the hop list, so I really appreciate you hopping all the way through and stopping by and leaving me a comment. Have a fabulous weekend! :) Janis

P.S.  If you want to go back and visit the hop list again, here's the other ladies on the hop with me:

Home is where the heart is...

We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board Video Tutorial...HERE

Happy Saturday! What are you doing this weekend? We will hopefully be outside a lot if the weather is pretty.

Here's a card I made... Clean and Simple.... using a BUGABOO image and Elegant Edges for the Scallop Circle.

  • Cuttlebug dots folder used to emboss the Kraft background (I don't know the name of the folder).
  • Black Gingham Ribbon and Red Gingham Ribbon used together
  • BUGABOO image colored with BIC markers. The hearts coming out of the chimney were too small to color, so I just dotted red by each one. I think that worked out okay. Gave them some color instead of just being solid black.
  • ELEGANT EDGES p. 23 "Scallop 1" cut @ 2" for matting the Bugaboo image. I used my Stampin' Up round template to pencil trace around the image, then cut it out by hand. One day I'll get some large circle punches and some scallop ones too. One day.
  • The circle image was adhered with foam tape for dimension.
That's it! Very simple. The card is actually black. Not sure if you can see that with my black background. I thought I'd give this to our son when he gets home. (He's getting transferred from Ft. Irwin in California to Ft. Jackson here in Columbia, South Carolina next month!!!!)

Thanks for stopping by today. Enjoy your weekend! :) Janis

Here is my PINTEREST INSPIRATION for this challenge:

The above was found HERE.
I did a search on Pinterest for "Cricut A Child's Year Projects."
There are tons of projects for this cartridge on Pinterest that are just awesome. It was really hard to choose just one to use for my inspiration for today's challenge. But the lace, ribbon, bows, and rhinestones on this one had me hooked.

Here is my postcard using the above project for inspiration:

POSTCARD DETAILS:
  • POSTCARD 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Mats:
    • Black mat cut @ 4" x 5 1/4"
    • Pink mat (from Echo Park's Graceful Girl collection kit) cut @ 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
    • All papers with rounded corners using Fiskar's squeeze corner rounder punch
  • Black border created with Martha Stewart border punch. I don't know the name of it, and it's not printed or engraved on the punch.
  • Ivory lace (love this stuff) from stash
  • Pink self-adhesive lace from Recollections
  • Flowers are Recollections Signature Special, layered and set together using a silver Recollections brad. Adhered to postcard with glue dots.
  • A CHILD'S YEAR:
    • Tooth Fairy p. 71 cut @ 4" and adhered to card using foam squares for dimension
    • Rhinestones added to fairy's back at wings
    • Stickles Silver used to enhance wand's star
  • CARDZ TV STAMPS:
    • "Make A Wish" stamp set used for sentiment and stamped using Memento Tuxedo black ink
I thought this challenge was going to be hard, but instead I was inspired by so many projects, I had to narrow them down and finally just choose one to use as my inspiration. I hope you guys will join us in the challenge. It's so fun!  :) Janis
