My Guy

Hi! Hope your week has started off well. I was super busy yesterday washing clothes, running errands, bathed the 60 pound doggie, washed the sofa cushion covers, caught up on laundry, and on the phone for about 3 hours with several phone calls, getting transferred, holding, holding, holding, etc trying to straighten out insurance stuff. Thankfully, it wasn't as nearly painful as I had dreaded it would be, and the end result was that it was all straightened out very nicely. :)  So today I've straightened up my Craft Room a little bit re-arranging some things, and I have to tell you. What my husband says is so very true, "A clean work space is a productive work space." You got that right.

I got out some old Stampin' Up stamps and thought I'd do some stamping this morning. Here's what I came up with...

I wanted to use the "Fishin' " set....

At first I thought I would just create a scene with the Cattails and grasses, but then decided to use the fishing basket and hat instead.  I knew I wanted the fishing pole leaning on the basket but behind the hat, so I had to do some masking.

First, I stamped the basket and hat image on the cardstock I was going to use for my final image. Then I stamped the basket and hat image again on a scrap piece of paper and cut along the edge of the image near where I'd "lean" the fishing pole.

Then I placed this scrap piece on my paper that would be used for the final image right on top of the image I wanted to keep clean. I lined up the fishing pole as best I could and stamped across the hat (you can barely see the pole piece on the hat edge to the right.) Let me tell you, clear stamps have spoiled me! These stamps are old and were sold before clear stamps were an option. So this was not as easy as it would have been, but still worked out just fine.

I removed the scrap piece and started coloring with BIC markers and chalks. :)

Here is the finished card:

  • A2 size card "Portrait" style 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Card base is dark Kraft cardstock from Stampin' Up
  • Black background cut @ 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  • Red heart background cut @ 4" x 5 1/4" (from 6x6 Love Note pad)
  • Image matted with black cardstock then orange gingham. Orange gingham from 6x6 "Signature Collection Gingham" pad.
  • Cardz TV Stamps "It's A Guy Thing" stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Shop Cardz TV Stamps
  • Shop TSQ (Love Note 6x6 pad)
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Hope you have a Terrific Tuesday!
:) Janis
